about

This song was inspired by a quote by Robert Louis Stevenson, “Wine is bottled poetry,” which Tamiko saw written on a sign in the Patriarche wine cellar, in Beaune, France.

lyrics

Not every vintage can stand the test of time.
Not every poem is strong enough to stain the mind.
Can’t pick the grapes too early, can’t march words into lines.
But when the season beckons, pluck expressions from the vines.

Pour me a glass of poetry in a bottle.
Let me taste your sweet words like a French sommelier.
Under the blush of a twilight-tinged rosé,
We’ll sip a lyrical bouquet and toast
À ta santé

You may choose to blend fermented flavors in a rhyme
Or let the essence age and build complexity through time.
I note a hint of honey and some Burgundy sunshine.
Your words, uncorked, I’ll savor like the finest Grand Cru wine.

Pour me a glass of poetry in a bottle.
Let me taste your sweet words like a French sommelier.
Under the blush of a twilight-tinged rosé,
We’ll sip a lyrical bouquet and toast
À ta santé.

Currant and raspberry, subtle on my tongue.
Some fall in love at the first sip, some wait ‘till the bottle’s done.
Like the barrel holds the flavor after the wine is gone,
I can't erase your taste. Words on the lips, they linger on.

Pour me a glass of poetry in a bottle.
Let me taste your sweet words like a French sommelier.
Under the blush of a twilight-tinged rosé,
We’ll sip a lyrical bouquet and toast
À ta santé.
